Homie is built around three things: verified people, private documents and money that waits until the job is done.
Every provider is ID checked
Providers upload a South African ID document and a selfie. A Homie reviewer checks that the face matches the document before the ID checked badge goes live.
Documents stay private
ID numbers and ID photos are stored privately and opened only by Homie reviewers. They never appear on a listing, in a review or in chat.
Your money is held
You pay Homie, not the provider. The money is held until the job is confirmed done, so there is no paying upfront for work you have not seen.
Reviews you can trust
Only homeowners who booked and paid through Homie can leave a review, so ratings reflect real completed jobs.
Stay in the app
Keep the conversation and the payment inside Homie. If anyone asks you to pay off-platform, tell us straight away.
Report a safety issue
If you ever feel unsafe or something happened during a job, contact us immediately. We can pause a payment, suspend a provider account and, where needed, work with the authorities. For anything urgent, WhatsApp us rather than waiting for the form.
